كانت المُقدمة التي عُرِفت بمقدِّمة ابن خلدون حصيلة التفكُّر والتأمّل الذي مارسهُ ابن خلدون في قلعة ابن سلامة. وقد اعتُبِرت هذه المُقدِّمة صورة حيّة للحياة الاجتماعية في مختلف البيئات التي تقلَّب بها الرجل.
